Melinda J. Williams completed her undergraduate work in psychology at Texas Christian University. She later earned her master’s degree in counseling from Texas A&M University-Commerce and is a member of the American Counseling Association.
Melinda is experienced in providing individual, marital and couples counseling along with group and family therapy. She is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) from the American Academy for the Certification of Brain Injury Specialists (AACBIS), which is associated with the Brain Injury Association of America.
Melinda has worked in a variety of settings including Dallas MetroCare Services, Sabine Valley Center, Panola College and the Centre for Neuro Skills. She specializes in grief/trauma and loss issues, communicating effectively, stress management, life skills management, personal growth, self-worth, boundaries, anger management, identity issues, obsessive-compulsive behaviors as well as depression and anxiety. Melinda also has extensive training in crisis intervention. A former faculty member at Panola College, Melinda taught courses in Lifespan Growth & Development and Psychology of Human Adjustment, and has written various articles focusing on mental health issues.
Melinda presents a variety of topics to many different groups including “Bereavement and Depression: What Is the Difference?” and “Brain Injury: Counseling Children and Adolescents.” Melinda is available as a speaker for groups, seminars or classes.
Melinda enjoys collecting antiques, watching football, traveling and activities at her church.
