R. Scott Gornto is a graduate of Baylor University and holds a master of divinity degree in counseling and theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He is a graduate of the Clinical Residency Program in Pastoral Counseling and Psychotherapy from the Pastoral Counseling and Education Center (PCEC) in Dallas.

Since 1998, Scott has worked with individuals, couples, adolescents, families and groups. His areas of specialization include marriage and family issues, abuse, grief/loss/trauma, and addiction/compulsivity. He also treats boundaries/codependency, anxiety, depression and works with individuals seeking spiritual direction/formation. Scott is a frequent speaker who leads classes, seminars and groups that focus on marriage and family, parenting, premarital counseling, divorce recovery, boundaries, and spiritual/psychological integration.

He is a member of AAMFT (American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy), AAPC (America Association of Pastoral Counselors), and AAETS (American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress).

As an extension of his practice, Scott does coaching and consulting using the Birkman Method® (www.birkman.com.) He is a certified Birkman consultant and integrates the Birkman Method® in his work with churches and businesses doing teambuilding, conflict resolution, personal coaching, and career counseling.

Scott is a licensed and ordained minister and is a former church planter and pastor. He is an avid golfer. He also enjoys art, painting, gardening, scuba diving and spending time with his family.
