Kay Gayle-Deason completed her undergraduate
degree in psychology and earned a master’s degree
in counseling from Louisiana Tech University. She then
went on to add significant post-graduate work in child
development at the University of Central Arkansas.
Kay is licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners
of Professional Counselors as a Licensed Professional
Counselor and supervisor, providing LPC intern
supervision. She is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist
from the American Academy for the Certification of
Brain Injury Specialists, which is associated with the Brain
Injury Association of America.
With more than 16 years of experience in counseling
children, adolescents and families, Kay has worked in a
variety of settings including adolescent residential and
day treatment programs, school-based counseling, and
outpatient clinics. She enjoys working with children and
their parents in areas such as depression, anxiety, selfinjury,
grief/loss/trauma, and adjustment issues related to
chronic medical illness. She also specializes in treatment
for children experiencing divorce adjustment issues;
social, behavioral or relational problems; and attention
and classroom issues. Her expansive background
enables her to offer individual counseling, life skills
groups, family counseling, parenting education, and
consultation with physicians and schools.
Kay is a member of the American Counseling
Association and the Association for Play Therapy. She
serves in the children’s ministry at her local church and
enjoys reading, art, traveling and spending time with her
family.
